Ability to toggle off marketing/reminder emails for certain clients

I send out reminder emails to rebook based on how long its been since their last visit. Sometimes a client lets me know that their pet has passed away and do not wish to receive reminders right now. This does not mean they want to unsubscribe completely however, and should they get another pet, would definitely be back in the future, and would want to receive notifications about their appointments and reminders at that time. It would be great if there was a way for the system to let me know if reminders and email confirmations of appointments are switched off so I can turn them back on again.
